Homeless Guy: What kind of guitar do you have?
Me: Crappy.

Getting the new Tweet button to work on Tumblr
I spent yesterday evening wrestling with my theme on The Anti-Social Media to support the new tweet button from Twitter. I was finally able to get it into position and working kind of like I want it to, but it is far from perfect.
The code Twitter gives you is very basic. It works well for static pages because it pulls the URL and title from the page itself. However, If you have a blog and...
Construction Ahead
I love this blog, and I am sad I neglect it. Unfortunately, my energies are being spent elsewhere doing things that make me happier than telling stories about how crazy my cat is and why I hate grapes.
I love personal blogging. I love to read into other people’s live and gain from their shared experiences. The voyueristic rush sweeps over me each and every time I stumble across a new...

You Don't Own Social Media - They Do →
This is my panel idea for SXSW Interactive. I based the idea mostly off of my post of the same name at The Anti-Social Media. I’d appreciate it if you take a moment to go and vote for it.

Facebook: Too Big to Quit? →
Yesterday, I added The Anti-Social Media to the feed for Social Media Today, a blog and community that talks about using Facebook, Twitter and the like for business. People submit their blogs, and then their editors pick which posts will be featured.
Needless to say, I was floored when I saw one of my posts featured on my very first try.
Most of the time I write about how everyone can use...

iPad-less
I decided to have some fun Friday before the iPad was released upon the world and made a sign reading “iPad-less - Please help.” I then went to my local Apple store and stood in front of the store.
There were a lot of reactions from people walking by. Most people saw the sign and laughed. Many had no idea what an iPad was, and I tried my best to explain the device to them. ...

The Anti-Social Media: Ignite Raleigh 2 →
I spoke to 701 people about The Anti-Social Media Wednesday night at Ignite Raleigh and none of them wanted to kill me afterward.
My nerdy little mind is blown.
I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to speak to such a diverse and thoughtful crowd of human beings. I’m lucky to be in a…

Analytics Camp, or I cannot fathom numbers.
This weekend I went to Analytics Camp, held at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at UNC. The event was an unconference, where the sessions are proposed in the morning and then the event-goers vote which ones they want to see by going to them.
I’m new to analytics. I really know nothing about them. What I wanted from the camp was a crash course in Google Analytics, which I’m...

This is my favorite webcomic/graphic novel/amazingness. It has more geeky references in one page than anything I’ve ever read, and consistently makes me laugh out loud.

Announcing: The Anti-Social Media
There’s a reason my blog posts have been light lately, and it’s not for lack of time or ideas. Rather, I’ve been directing my energies to something new.
A while back, I realized how much certain social media conventions annoyed me, how much misinformation lived out in the internet, and how insane it all is for a newcomer. The sheer amount of information is insane, let alone...

28 Video Games in 52 Weeks.
I have a lot of goals for 2010, but I only have one goal worth sharing with the entire internet:
I intend to finish EVERY video game I currently own and have not beaten yet.
If you know me, you know how insane this is. I collect video games like it’s my job. AND I AM VERY GOOD AT MY JOB.
Here is the list of games I have to finish:
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy VII
...

I'm like Lady Gaga, in that we both don't wear...
Last time I shared a personal secret about how I hate grapes, NO ONE CARED. No comments, no laughter, no awkward stares, no nothing but three other weirdos joining my anti-grapes Facebook group. But, I’m going to post another secret, because if I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that blind rage and fury posted on the internet will carry your career on well past its 15 minutes...

Bad Habits.
Once again I’m going to write about Chibi, because just before my 24th birthday I’ve turned into an old spinster whose life revolves around blogging about his cat. Really, expect to see my likeness on “Old Blogger who talks about his cat too much” action figures soon. In my heart of hearts, I wish it wasn’t true, but this is the internet, where everything is true...
